1. What is Cholestero-Lowᵀᴹ?

Cholestero-Low ᵀᴹ is a new food supplement designed to lower your cholesterol and improve your heart health. It contains oat beta-glucan which is approved by the European Food Safety Authority for cholesterol lowering purposes. Co-enzyme Q10 is added for heart health and inulin as a prebiotic for a healthy gut and to help lower your cholesterol.

2. How do I take it ?

Take 1-2 sachets dissolved in water. One sachet has enough active ingredients for a daily dose, but you can take an extra one and it should incrementally improve cholesterol levels.

You can also add to yoghurt, cereal, smoothie etc !

3. How do you know it works ?

Multiple studies and analyses of study results have shown that Oat beta-glucan can reduce total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol.¹ As a result of all of these studies, the European Food Safety Authority (EFAS) authorised a legal claim on oat beta-glucan.²

4. Is oat beta glucan good for my blood sugar ?

Yes, oat beta-glucan contributes to the reduction of the glucose (sugar) rise after a meal. However, the dose for this is 4gm, and therefore an extra sachet or part thereof would be needed ³.

5. I have heard that Oat beta-glucan can cause weight loss – is this true?

The viscosity of the the Oat beta-glucan delays your stomach and bowel emptying. It allows nutrients to interact with the lining of the bowel for longer. This can stimulate feelings of fullness or satiety. ⁴

6. Can I take Cholestero-Lowᵀᴹ if I am taking a statin ?

You need to talk to your GP or Cardiologist if you want to take supplements and are taking medication. There are studies that have shown oat beta-glucan can have an additive + independent effect on improving cholesterol levels.³

7. I am taking a statin and want to stop – Can I take Cholestero-Low instead?

It is important to discuss this with your medical doctor(GP), pharmacist or Cardiologist.

8. Does Cholestero-Low affect my good cholesterol ?

The studies have shown that oat beta-glucan does not effect your HDL, good cholesterol.

9. What is Co-Enzyme Q 10 (CoQ10) for ?

Also known as Ubiquinone. It is made in our body. The levels of production drop as we age, especially around the heart. In the body, it is used for energy and as an anti-oxidant. Studies have shown it can be beneficial to prevent our cholesterol being oxidised, is good for our blood pressure and its role as an antioxidant is important in heart health⁶⁻⁷.

10. What is the Inulin for ?

Inulin a prebiotic dietary fibre that is indigestible. It promotes beneficial bacteria growth in the intestine. There are studies that show its beneficial effect on triglyceride concentrations which are another form of cholesterol. Because of its faecal bulking properties, and its ‘prebiotic’ it may improve your stool frequency but for some may cause bloating⁸.

11. What are the side effects ?

The side as described in the scientific literature is bloating in some people.

12. Its not working, what do I do ?

Try two sachets per day. 6mg of oat beta-glucan can have a better effect on your cholesterol. Always keep in mind a healthy diet and regular exercise helps. Have a chat to your pharmacist or doctor about your next options.

13. I am pregnant, can I take this ?

16. Whats in Cholestero-Low ᵀᴹ?

Cholestero-Low ᵀᴹ contains oat beta-glucan, Coenzyme Q 10, inulin. It also contains natural flavourings, sucralose, and xanthan gum.

17. Does it contain gluten ?

Oat beta-glucan is made from the cell wall of oats. Therefore it technically contains gluten. However, a lot of coeliacs can tolerate oats, porridge etc. Therefore, it is up to each individual to decide.

18 I dont have high cholesterol, Can I take it ?

YES! The benefits are far reaching. Oat beta-glucan also stabilises blood sugars, can help with immunity. Oat beta-glcuan and inulin are prebiotics- great for gut health. And the Co-enzyme Q10 is an antioxidant, added for energy as well as heart health.
